Transfer eGovernment know-how to the countries of the Danube region

Just as Austria always plays a leading role in the development of the EU's digital strategy, it also assumes its responsibility for individual countries in the heart of Europe.

A study on the state of digitalisation in Europe in 2017 shows that Austria is just behind Germany, but well ahead of Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania.

That is why Austria has for years been promoting the transfer of eGovernment know-how to the countries of the Danube region and also to the whole of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Based on bilateral agreements, Austria exchanges views in this area with other EU member states such as Bulgaria and Romania and supports potential EU member candidates and countries of the Eastern Partnership in so-called EU Twinning projects in setting up and expanding their institutional structures.
